Dance Fever

Last night we had dance.  I use the term we lightly.  Doneece and Caroline had dance, but three more members of the family were in attendance.  It really doesn't take all of us to get Caroline to dance, but our family travels in herds.  It is just how we are!

Mom and I took Caroline to dance and Ann meet us there.  Doneece had to teach and is very capable of getting herself to work, but I am sure if she would let someone they would take her.  That is just how we roll.

I love going to dance.  It is fun to see my little sister grown up and teaching other kids.  I still think of her as a kid and she isn't.  She is in charge and that is fun to watch.  She also has tons of patience.  Can you imagine teaching 20 5 year-olds?  That is pure craziness to me.  She handles it perfectly.  She was made to do this.  I also love going and watching Caroline.  She loves being there and dancing.  Her energy amazes me!!!

Doneece and Caroline before dance started.

This isn't the best picture, but I love it because you really get the idea of Doneece teaching Caroline.  So cute!

I caught Caroline in the middle of the action.  She probably wasn't suppose to be paying attention to me.  Maybe she should of been focused on Doneece, but it turned out to be a great picture.

I love this picture of Doneece in action.

The next three pictures are perfect.  They show Doneece and Caroline in there element.  They cut up and laugh with each other so much.  They are both hams and love to make each other laugh.
After dance I had to go see my sweet boy.  He cracks me up every second.  He was happy to see me, but of course wanted to know where Jaime was?  He knows that we go together and doesn't like it when Jaime is missing.  The boy loves to laugh and has a really genuine laugh.  When he smiles, he smiles big.  It is hard to get a picture of him with his eyes open because he smiles so big.
The one time you can get a picture of him with his eyes open is when he is concentrating on his ice cream.  That ice cream is serious stuff!

Spring Flowers

We spent a good part of the weekend planting flowers.  Neither of us has a green thumb, so this is a big stretch for us.  Even though we had no idea what we were doing, we had a great time.

I had bought a few things at Lowe's on Thursday and Saturday we headed to Home Depot for a few other things.  I must say that Home Depot had a better selection of plants.  I have no idea what kind of plants we got.  I basically picked things that were a pretty color.

We planted 6 plants in pots and put 3 bird feeders out.  So far everything looks really good.  We have even seen some humming birds around.

We also cleaned out the garage and cleaned the back porch.  The back porch looks great.  It is nice to look out the big windows in the living room and see pretty flowers, some birds and a clean porch.  I doubt it will stay like that for long.  I am not sure if the plants will die first or if the porch will get dirty first.  It is hard to tell, but I think the plants may be on the losing end.

I just hope everything makes it while we are gone.  I am headed to Lubbock this morning for a few days and Jaime is headed to Victoria, Corpus and Houston.

Happy Weekend!

I have blogged a lot this week.  Blogging a lot makes me tired.

I can do a list, but that is about it.

1.  My emails are disappearing.  I got a new MacBook and have been getting some help setting it up.  My Mac genius did some work and I think he worked on losing some of my emails.  It worries me.  Hopefully he can find them today and fix the problem.

2.  I am worried about the Spurs.  I may not get to see them play again this year which is very sad.  They play at home on Tuesday, but I will be off on another trip.  More to come about the trip.  Maybe nothing more to come about the Spurs.

3.  Abby from Mayhem in Mayberry has become the new content director here at the nest.  She has been giving me great ideas for blogging material so she got the job.  The job pays nothing, just the satisfaction of hearing the story you requested.  Let me know if anyone else is interested in the job.

4.  It seems like it has been a long week, but I am not sure why.  I am really looking forward to the weekend, mostly because I get to spend lots of time with this man.

Hope you have a Happy Weekend!  See you Monday from an undisclosed location.

Need I Say More

This hairdo is the reason I learned to braid my hair.  I am the one with the ginormous gold clip in my hair.  Ann is the one with the 80's hair and Doneece is the one that doesn't have hair issues.  Fortunately for Doneece she wasn't old enough to have hair issues yet.  I wish I would have been so lucky.

When I was in second grade I wanted to get my haircut like Jennifer Horton on Days of Our Lives.  She had a cute bob that was about shoulder length.  My mom had a different idea.  She thought I should cut all of my hair off.  She won.  Once I had the haircut she decided it wasn't quite cute enough.  Mom decided my hair would be much cuter with a perm.  Mom, Grandma and Aunt Anita gave me a home perm.  After the perm mom decided my look would be complete with the gold clip.  Instead of putting the clip at an acceptable distance from my forehead she put it about 2 inches from forehead.  All of this didn't end up making me look like Jennifer Horton.

After all this hair trauma mom decided we should have our picture taken.  This picture still haunts me.

Soccer, The Other Football

Yesterday evening Jaime and I went to a soccer game.  Three kids from the neighborhood were playing a make-up soccer game and it was a perfect evening to see some 6 and 7 year-olds play some soccer.  It was a beautiful evening and lots of fun.

The only bad part of the evening is our team lost really bad.  The other team had what seems to be some team members that were about 10 years-old.  That didn't really work out well for our team.  We still had fun and after the game was over we headed for Pizza.

I love this picture of Lisa and her daughter, Cara.  Cara is a junior in high school and helping coach the soccer team.  She also plays soccer and is really good.  Cara is great and lots of fun.  Below is a picture of Cara.  She wears different color socks everyday.  Her socks never match.  It makes me laugh!

Another great thing about this soccer game is we got to go cheer on some kids we really like at 6 p.m. instead of Saturday morning at 8 a.m.  I love these kids, but 8 a.m. on Saturday is really early.

Go Spurs Go!!!

First, you need to know it is really late or early depending how you look at it.  It is 1 a.m. as I am writing this.  People, I have dedication to you and this blog.  Okay, maybe not so much.  Second, you need to know that Ann is still out of town so I don't expect many comments or readers today.  Third, I really don't have a story to go with this post just pictures.

We went to the Spurs game on Saturday night and last night.  Saturday night they lost so there wasn't much to talk about.  Last night we had front row tickets and had a lot of fun, but still not much to talk about.  Basically, it was more fun because the Spurs won.  Hopefully they can keep it up.

This is not the best picture of us for two reasons.  One, I can't take in my new camera to the game.  Because my camera has the ability to change lenses I am not allowed to take it in without a press pass.  I don't have a press pass.  Two, you can't use a flash in there.  Those two things make picture taking a little difficult.

Braiding

I have to dedicate this post to Abby.  It was her idea that I blog about braiding and I don't have anything else to talk about so it works out perfectly.

I learned to braid hair when I was in elementary.  It is kind of a long story so stick with me.

My dad would do my hair in the mornings before he took me to daycare.  I don't remember having any problems with his hair fixing skills.  He may have other memories of the situation.  When I got to elementary my mom started doing my hair.  I did have a problem with her hair fixing skills.  I love my mom to death, but we have a very differing opinion on hair styles.  I would show you pictures, but I don't have any.  I purposefully left those pictures at my moms house so they would not haunt me.

Anyways, after a few years of her fixing my hair I had to figure out how to do my own hair.  Neither my mom nor I enjoyed her fixing my hair.  Solution, I learned to french braid hair.  Heather lived with Aunt Anita and Uncle Darrel her senior year of high school.  She knew how to french braid her and taught me.  She taught me how to braid on a barbie.  I practiced all the time.  After school almost everyday I would sit in Grandma's living room and practice braiding on the same barbie.  I got really good and started practicing on myself.

I got where I could do my hair and it look cute.  One day I cut my hair and didn't think about not being able to braid it because of the length.  That is when I learned to do two braids.  It took me awhile to perfect it, but I did.

By high school I was really good.  I would braid my hair for all my basketball games.  Soon I started braiding all of my teammates hair.  I would get to the gym hours early to braid every ones hair.  I was probably braiding somewhere around 6 or 7 peoples hair times to braids.  You do the math.

After high school my braiding stopped.  It wasn't the cool way to wear your hair in college.  It also makes me look like I am about 12 when I braid my own hair.  In college all I was trying to do was look older so I stopped braiding my hair.

Finally, Caroline came along and her hair grew out to a point where I could braid it.  I love doing it and I know Ann loves it, but I am not sure about Caroline.  She thinks it takes too long.  I think she likes the way it looks once it is done, but could care less about me taking the time to do it.

The only way it really works for me to do Caroline's hair is to put her in front of the T.V.  I need her to be very still for about 30 minutes.  The T.V. does that for us.  When I braided her hair for the wedding in Houston, I didn't think either of us was going to make it.  We didn't have T.V. and both of us were ready to cry half way through.  We made it and her hair looked great.

I have braided my own hair a few times in the past year.  I cut it really short back in the fall and it didn't really go in a ponytail.  I braided my hair for workout.  Jaime didn't like it.  Like I said it makes me look like I am 12 and he still looks 34.  You can imagine what we look like together.  Needless to say I quit braiding my hair.  It looks better on Caroline anyways.

Thanks Abby for the suggestion.  Hope you enjoyed the story.  I am sure you were on the edge of your seat waiting to hear.  I will try to get Ann to email me a picture of my terrible hair do to post on here for all to see.

You Can Figure Out the Story

Basically it comes down to the fact that I am being lazy.  It is also because Ann is out of town so she will not be commenting on this post.  Ann is the only that comments so I assume she is the only one reading.  Because of those facts I am just going to post pictures.  The story is Saturday was CRAZY with two birthday parties.  Sunday was wonderful celebrating the Resurrection of the Lord with family.

You can fill in the blanks.  Enjoy the pictures.

Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
