As You May Recall

I purchased a new bedspread about a month ago and blogged about it. I have decided to keep the bedspread and give the bedroom a make over.

I have decorated almost every room in the house. Actually, most of the rooms have been decorated by my friend Kalub. She did all the work and I just payed for the stuff. She is really amazing and I love all the things she has done.

The only room I haven't tackled is the master bedroom. I have no idea why I have left that room for last, but that is how it has turned out. So far I have the bedding and nothing else. I am on a roll.

This is the bedding in case you forgot.

And you can go here to see what I want my room to look like in the end. Amazing!!!

Here's hoping the family gets a hint.

All I have to keep me going are these pictures. I hope I make it till September.

Anniversaries Revisited

Most of all this post is for memory purposes. We have only been married 8 years and I have a hard time remembering what we have done for our anniversary.

We have done some really amazing things for our anniversary and I want to be able to look back and remember. Jaime and I had to really think hard about what we have done the past 8 years. After about an hour we had it all figured out. Here it is.

1st Anniversary:
We helped Jaime's grandparents celebrate their 50th Anniversary. It was wonderful celebrating our anniversary buy celebrating an amazing couple. We stayed at the Omni in downtown Corpus and had a room overlooking the water. It was so nice that I even got up to watch the sunrise. That was a huge deal. We ate dinner at Buelas in Port Aransas and ended the night by dancing on the beach.

2nd Anniversary:
I would say our 2nd anniversary was the oddest. We spent it in Amarillo. Jaime had depositions in Amarillo that he couldn't get out of. I think Paula thought it would be funny to send us to Amarillo for our anniversary. It ended up being really fun. We stayed at the Ambassador for our anniversary and the next night my parents came to Amarillo to see us. It worked out really well. We got to spend our anniversary together and see my parents.

3rd Anniversary:
Jaime totally surprised me for our 3rd anniversary. I thought we were going to have a low key evening. We went to dinner at Lavenders in Corpus. It was a wonderful meal. I thought we were headed home for the night. We lived on North Padre Island at the time. We were almost home when Jaime made an unexpected turn on the island. He rented a yacht for us to take a sunset cruise on. It was amazing. The yacht was gorgeous and the Laguna Madre at sunset was breathtaking. He did a really great job!

4th Anniversary:
Our best anniversary may have been our 4th. We drove to San Antonio for game 7 of the NBA Championship game between the Spurs and the Pistons. On the way to San Antonio Jaime gave me a beautiful David Yurman ring. I was shocked! It is still one of my favorite pieces of jewelry. The best part of the day was the Spurs winning the NBA title. It is an evening I will never forget! I asked Jaime on the way to San Antonio that day how he would ever top that anniversary. We are still trying to figure it out.

5th Anniversary:
For our 5th anniversary Jaime had some work he had to get done. His work was in the Dominican Republic and it had to be taken care of on our anniversary. Instead of him being gone our anniversary, Paula suggested I go with him. The part of the Dominican he had to go to was not the safest so we actually went to Puerto Rico. I stayed in Puerto Rico the entire trip and Jaime made a day trip to the Dominican to take care of his business. Puerto Rico was wonderful. It was a really quick trip, but it was the perfect way to celebrate an anniversary.

6th Anniversary:
We went to Seattle for our 6th anniversary. We had a great time. We took a tour of the harbor and even made it to Canada for a day. In Canada we took a Sea Plane Tour. I really did not want to get on a sea plane, but knew Jaime really wanted to. He would have never done it without me so I made the sacrifice. I had a death grip on his hand the entire plane ride, but he still loved every minute of it. It was okay for me and I just hope I never have to do it again. We also made it to 2 baseball games in Seattle. We got to see Seattle play the Reds and the Red Sox. So much fun!

7th Anniversary:
We were actually in San Antonio one the day of our anniversary and had dinner at Ruth Chris. To celebrate our anniversary we went to St. Louis for the 4th of July. We went to two baseball games while in St. Louis. We got to see the Cardinals play the Cubbies twice. What an anniversary!

8th Anniversary:
This year we kept it really low key. We have been on the road so much that we decided to stay at home. We talked about going away for a few days, but we have a wonderful house that we have not really enjoyed lately. This is the first time in a month that we have been home the entire week. It sure is nice. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Kirby's which included the best mashed potatoes I have ever had. We ended the night by sitting in our favorite chair watching a movie and some college baseball. This is exactly what I had in mind for our anniversary.

8 Years and Counting

Today Jaime and I have been married 8 years. It has been the best 8 years of my life. I feel so blessed that God put Jaime in my life.

Jaime is my best friend and I love him more each day. I really can't imagine my life without him. Jaime is my rock. He is the first person I want to tell all my stories to and Lord knows there are lots of stories. He puts up with all my stories so you know he loves me. Jaime really does love me for the person I am.

I decided a question and answer session was better than me going on and on about how much I love Jaime. Really, who wants to hear me do that? I stole Ann's questions because I procrastinated on this post. Shocking! Thanks Ann. Next year I will plan better.

R: What was your favorite part of our wedding day?
J: It sounds goofy, but going back to the hotel after the wedding and hanging out and watching Sports Center while having dinner. It makes us sound lame.
(It was actually one of my favorite parts as well.)

R: Can you believe we have been married 8 years?
J: I don't know, it seems kind of weird.

R: Do you remember what color the bridesmaid dresses were?
J: Red-ish?

R: Do you remember all the bridesmaids?
J: Ann, Doneece, Stacy, and Lesli. That is all I remember.
R: You forgot Kelli and Becky.
J: Oh yeah.

R: What's your favorite thing about me?
J: That you love me and you love sports.

R: What is your favorite vacation we have been on?
J: I really liked the Seattle trip and the first D.C. trip.

Seattle Waterfront

Seattle Mariners vs. Boston Red Sox Game

Sea Plane Tour

U.S. Capital

Mount Vernon

R: Where are we going next?
J: Who knows? Dallas on July 2nd?
R: Not exactly the vacation I was hoping for.

R: What is the biggest change in me in the past 8 years?
J: Biggest change? I don't know? You will try new foods now.

R: What has stayed the same about me?
J: You still love sports.

R: What's next for us?
J: Babies.

R: When?
J: Soon
R: That has been your answer for the past 5 years.

Happy Anniversary Jaime! I love you with all my heart!

High School Flashback

Jaime and I went to Lubbock over the weekend for my 10 year high school reunion. I graduated from Lubbock High School in 1999. Believe me we partied like it was 1999.

It was a fun filled weekend. It may not have been really fun for Jaime, but he was a trooper. To go to multiple events where you don't know anyone can't be that much fun. Jaime was great about it and let me talk lots and we stayed as long as I wanted. He really is the sweetest!

Friday night we had a BBQ. There were about 20 people there. Not much has changed since high school. Everyone hung out with the same crowd as they did in high school. I mingled. I am a social butterfly and hung out with a bunch of different crowds in high school. It was fun to see some familiar faces and catch up.

Saturday morning there was a tour of the high school. Let me just give you a little background information. I loved high school. I thought it was super fun, but it was like pulling teeth to get me to go. Just ask my parents. I liked the socialization part not really the class part. I decided I didn't really like going to the school 10 years ago why should I go now.

I keep hearing I had to see the library. Supposedly the library has moved and is amazing. People, I didn't know where the library was when I was there. I doubt seeing where the library is now will make a difference to me. I skipped the tour and instead went to get a massage with Jaime. We totally made the right decision!

Saturday night was the big night. We had dinner at the Lubbock Women's Club. It was a nice dinner and there was a larger crowd. More chatting for me and more boredom for Jaime. After a nice dinner we headed to Cafe J's for some more chatting.

It is so interesting to hear what everyone is doing. We have some very talented people in our class. We have an actor living in New York and doing shows on Broadway. We have a really amazing DJ moving to the Bronx. We have a ton of doctors and some lawyers. It was fun to see what people have done with their lives so far.

I reconnected with some friends that I had lost touch with over the years. Maybe now we will do a better job of staying in touch. It was a fun weekend and I owe a huge thanks to my husband. He was wonderful and never complained. There were times that I was bored and complained, but not him. He is a keeper.

Happy Father's Day!!!

I am doing this post early because I have a big blog week planned next week. Planned is the key word. For now let's talk about Father's Day.

We are headed to Lubbock again this weekend. My 10 year high school reunion is this weekend. I thought it would work out perfectly to go to Lubbock for two events. Unfortunately, my dad had other plans. He is in San Antonio this weekend so we basically, we switched places. We did get to have dinner with him before we left for Lubbock.

I have an amazing Dad. I am so lucky to have someone in my life that loves me and cares for me like my dad. He has taught me about the important things in life like sports, as well as a few other things. I am so grateful for the guidance and advice that he has provided me throughout my life. He always seems to have the right words for me regardless of the situation.

He will do just about anything for me and believe me, I have pushed the limits. My dad also loves Jaime like a son. We both feel so lucky that my parents treat him like their own child.

I also have some other amazing men in my life. I have Uncle Darrel who kept me out of trouble in junior high and Grandpa who taught me about golf, stocks and life.

I am very well rounded because of these men. Thank you so much for being part of my life. I love you each dearly.

Lubbock In My Rearview Mirror

Not really.  I feel like we should have moved here for the month of June.  This is the second weekend in a row I have been in Lubbock and I will be back next weekend.  I have spent more time here than I have spent at my own house.  Do you think if I call the mortgage company and explain the situation they will give me a break on the payment?  Me neither.

I came to Lubbock this weekend for Philip and Kathleen's wedding reception.  They are such special people that they needed two receptions.  I was invited to come as the photographer.  It is my first photography job.  So exciting.

I know you are here for the pictures so here they are.

A Perfect Thursday

Yesterday morning I flew to Lubbock for the weekend.  Doneece and Caroline have dance recital this weekend so it is a big time around here.

Sweet John hasn't been feeling well.  The horrible cough is back.  He actually acts like himself, but with a terrible cough.  Doneece stayed with him yesterday morning and then I got the afternoon shift.  I love hanging out with this boy.  He is so cute and the sweetest!

After his nap we went and got ice cream and went to the park.  We both had a great time.

You can't deny he is cute.  Have a great weekend.

Decorating Sense

I have no decorating sense at all.  Despite that fact I am still trying.  I found some new bedding on the internet that I loved.  I called Ann and she said she loved it as well.

It was half off so I took the plunge and bought the bedding, but saved my reciept.  I now need some help deciding.  I like it, but I am not sure I love it.  Jaime on the other hand loves it.  He walked into the room and really told me he loved this.  This is huge for him so I am wondering if I should keep it for that fact.

Grandma made me a quilt a couple of months ago and I finally put it on the bed.  It kind of matches the new bedding.

This is my favorite piece of the quilt.  The whole quilt was based on this piece.  I think this is my favorite quilt that Grandma has made.

Now for the big reveal of the bedding.  I know you can hardly wait.

So what do you think?  I have been wanting bedding this color for about a year and never found anything that I liked.  I also want to paint the bedroom.  I can't decide on the blue/green color or gold.  If I did gold it would go with my old bedspread and I could switch back and forth between the two.
