Meet Me in St. Louis

Jaime and I usually take a really cool vacation somewhere in the summer. This summer things have been a little crazy with Jaime's work and the coffee shop for me. So many people have been asking about our big trip. This year we weren't able to take a big trip, but we did get a way for a couple of days. So this is old news, but fun news.

Jaime and I went to St. Louis for July 4th. Since it was a long weekend we wanted to get away for some rest and relaxation. The criteria for the trip had to be somewhere Southwest flew, there had to be a baseball game and it had to be somewhere simi close. St. Louis was the winner mostly because it was close and the Cardinals were playing my Cubbies. It doesn't get much better than that.

We got to see lots of neat things in St. Louis. The first was this Fourth of July parade. It blocked every possible route to the arch. We had tickets at 11:00 am that were not refundable. We finally just joined in the parade for a moment and walked across the street.

We finally did make it to the St. Louis Arch. They took our tickets even though we were late; they were not that busy on the 4th. It was really neat at the top of the arch, but not for very long. It was a little crowded up there and I do not like crowded. We couldn't have been up there longer than 3 minutes.

Later that afternoon was bliss. We went to the baseball game and were there when the gates opened. We got to see the Cubs take batting practice. It was wonderful. The Cardinals have a really nice stadium. This is typical. That phone is attached to Jaime's ear.

All you really need to know about the game is that the Cubs won and we saw fireworks. It was the perfect Fourth of July!

The next day we went and took a tour of Anheuser Bush Brewery. It was very interesting how the beer is made. At the end of the tour there is a taste test. We were not able to partake in the tasting because we had to get to the game. We were going to miss batting practice if we didn't hurry.

This is what I saw when we got to the game. Batting practice was over and I was mad. It took me a little while to get over it, but I did. The game was great. It was really hot, but the Cubs were winning so it seemed like everything was right in the world. That is until Kerry Wood came in to pitch in the bottom of the 9th.

This is all you really need to know; Kerry Wood came in and blew a 2 run lead and we lost. It was not cool!

Overall it was a great trip even if the Cubs lost one game. It was nice to get away with my husband for a few days. I love visiting new cities with wonderful baseball. I can't wait till our next trip. Hopefully it is to New York to see Yankee Stadium. Keep your fingers crossed.
