WD 40 - The Cure All

So evidently WD 40 fixes everything around our house.

Instead of taking the bed apart to move for the painters we just used "Moving Men".   Surely you have all seen the infomercial for these.  Yes, they really do work.  The bed was light as a feather using those moving men.

When we moved the bed I noticed we had 3 wood post in the middle of the bed frame.  I thought to myself that I would need to check those once the bed was moved back to make sure they were all good.  That never happened.  The bed started making noises anytime you would roll over.  So annoying.  After a few nights I couldn't handle it anymore.  It was waking me up at night.

I asked Jaime to fix it over the weekend and he said he would.  I should never leave anything up to him to fix.  As he mentioned in my birthday post he breaks more than he fixes.  Sunday night I got in bed and it wasn't fixed.  He told me to get up and he would put some WD 40 on it.  We have a totally WOOD bed frame.  Last time I checked WD 40 is not made for wood.  If we had a steel bed frame that would have totally worked.  I rolled my eyes at him and went to sleep.  I made sure to be very dramatic every time I rolled over to convey my frustration with him, because that is the type of wife I am.

Monday morning I got up and was determined to fix the bed.  I took the entire bed apart by myself.  I scooted the mattress off enough to get the box springs off the bed frame.  Of course the problem was that the 3 post in the middle were not upright and so the boards were not laying flat.  The actual problem took about 30 seconds to fix.  Getting the box springs, and the mattress back on are a little different story.

I got it all fixed all by myself.  I was so proud of myself and I didn't even need a can of WD 40 to help me out.

Thanks Dad for pulling me aside when I was 16 and showing me how to fix a few things.  One day it was replacing the break light on my car.  I asked you then why I had to know how to do that and your response was so that I could take care of it if my husband didn't know how.  How did you know that day that I would be the one to fix everything in our house?

Sorry if there are any misspellings.  I upgraded to the new blogger and now I am wondering if I can go back.

What's For Dinner

First, I am feeling better. Thanks for all the well wishes. I may be feeling better due to the fact that I got custom curtains hung in my bedroom today. That's right, the bedroom project is still in progress. It is coming along nicely. I am picking up the chair and ottoman today and can't wait to see what it looks like in my fabulous room.

Last night for dinner I decided to try one of PW's recipe. I am so excited about her new cookbook and decided I should try a few recipes in order to convince Jaime of her total awesomeness. I am hoping he realizes this so that I can meet all the girls in Dallas for the book signing. Isn't the best way to convince him through his stomach?

I made Grilled Ribeye Steak with Onion-Blue Cheese Sauce. I actually only made the sauce and Jaime cooked the steak. He has to earn his keep around here somehow. I also made fresh spinach and mushrooms. Dinner was great!!!

The steak and sauce was definitely the best part. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare and the sauce called for heavy cream. Need I say more. The sauce was super easy to make and I didn't even cry when I cut all the onions up. I could have eaten the sauce by itself and may have done so, but I will never admit it.

Try it out. It is totally worth it and your hips will thank you later or not.

Flu or Something Like It

I have lots to write about, but not today. I think I found the flu or the flu found me. Actually I am not sure it is the flu, but that is what I diagnosed myself with.

I ran a fever most of the day yesterday. My ears hurt and I feel a sore throat or runny nose coming on any time. Hopefully all will be better tomorrow or I will stop being dramatic.

Fall Has Finally Arrived

I feel like Summer is finally gone and Fall has arrived. I love every season and I really love the transition. I remember how much I love every season when it first comes around. It is like I forget what the season brings. I totally forgot what Fall was like until this week.

Tuesday we had a cold front come through that actually felt like a cold front. Why do meteorologist call a slight cool down in the summer a cold front? Can it really be considered a cold front when the temperature goes from 105 degrees to 99 degrees? In my mind that does not qualify as a cold front.

Tuesday there was really a cold front. We were in the high 80's on Monday and by Tuesday afternoon is was raining and in the low 60's. I am not kidding, it was 63 degrees yesterday afternoon. It was the most kind of amazing. Today it has sprinkled most of the day and it was 58 degrees. I had forget what 58 degrees felt like after the 682 days in a row we had over a 100 degree days. Oh, I am kidding. It wasn't that many days, but it was close.

I am also super excited that fall T.V. is back. I have found a new show in The Biggest Loser. It is almost like watching football. I sit in front of the T.V. cheering for these people to succeed. I love it. It is like my mid-week football game.

Grey's Anatomy comes back tonight. I can't wait to see how everything plays out. Of course George dies because he didn't sign a contract, but what happens to Izzy. I saw a tabloid report the other day that she was going to take a few episodes off to spend with her new daughter. I can't wait to see how all that plays out. Also Ellen just gave birth last week to a girl and is taking time off. How will it all work without Meredith Grey. It is called Grey's Anatomy.

Desperate Housewives returns Sunday. I still haven't watched last years season finally. I was so busy in May that I forgot about it. I realized in July I had never seen the finally. I decided I should try and wait till the season started again. I figured I could miss all the anticipation, but now I don't remember what was even going on last season. I will figure it out before Sunday.

Project Runway has been back for a couple of weeks now. I love me some Project Runway. Jaime doesn't watch any of these with me. He is only interested in Entourage and playing college football on PlayStation. Entourage is pretty funny and does not require much thought. That is nice for a change.

We are also trying to catch up on Weeds. We have all the seasons on DVD and we watch when we can. Some weeks we watch lots and others we watch none. This week we haven't watched any and I don't see any in our future for tonight or Friday.

Life will be amazing once I get to sit out at a football game when it is cold. Also, when the trees look like this. When do you think that will happen? I am guessing it won't happen here because this picture was taken in Utah. Maybe Jaime should take me back to Utah see the trees and wonderful blue sky.

Not What I Had Planned

This is not at all what I had planned to blog about tonight. I had something very trivial to post about. I feel like it is totally not important and I should post about a family I learned about earlier today.

I was on Facebook earlier this afternoon and my friend, Mysha, asked for prayers for a family she knows. I followed the link to a blog and started reading. Before long I was crying. I read the past month and said a prayer for this family. I found out that Mysha had been a Young Life leader with this girl.

I got on Facebook tonight before I was about to start blogging and Mysha had commented that she was thinking about this family. I decided I better check the blog again.

I have been sitting here for the past two hours reading and crying. My heart aches for this family. I did not plan on blogging about this, but I am sure this family did not plan on tragedy.

The Sullivans have been through a lot in the past couple of months. I cannot even begin to imagine. Just when things looked like they were going along great, tragedy strikes. Do not visit this blog without at least 10 tissues. I have gone through more than that. You don't have to visit their blog, but please keep them in your prayers.

Sloan

Friday morning I got to photograph Sloan. Her mom, Beth, and I went to high school together and now they don't live very far from us. We talked at our 10 year reunion about taking pictures and we finally got around to it.

Sloan is 6 months old and is so precious. She is such a good baby and was super easy to photograph. She won me over with her BIG brown eyes. Beth brought along her grandfather's rockin' chair. Sloan looked so cute in the little chair. Best of all, Sloan and her parents love Texas Tech as much as I do! Hopefully we can take some more pictures of Sloan soon. We only spent about an hour taking pictures before she was asleep. I guess we wore her out.

Brainwash

My favorite photographer is Lauren Clark in Lubbock. I love what she does! She did our pictures last November. I also went and spent the day with her in February and learned tons of photography stuff. She and some of her friends put on "Love Affair" that I went to in Atlanta.

She is now having a contest on her blog for a free Brainwash. I did a brainwash in February and had so much fun. I would love to do it all again. Here is hoping I win.

Lauren took this picture of me in February. I love it!

SV Freshman Football

I was suppose to blog these pictures from the Smithson Valley vs. New Braunfels game last Friday, but I have a good excuse. Two little girls found out that I know how to braid hair. They talked me into braiding their hair Thursday night for school on Friday. They knew there was no chance of me getting up early on Friday to braid hair. Thus, I was too tired Thursday night to work on the pictures after making 4 braids.

Without further ado, here are the pictures from the freshman game. And yes, we do know someone that plays on the freshman team.

Crowns

This is the funniest thing that has happened to me in a long time! Of course Caroline brought the funny. She keeps me laughing all the time.

Jeff, Caroline and John came over Saturday morning and brought presents. I love those kids, but I think my love grows for them when they bring presents.

Caroline and John made their gifts this year. They both painted horses for me. Caroline is obsessed with horses so horses they painted.

This is the horse John painted. Isn't it so pretty!

This is the horse that Caroline painted. She did such a beautiful job!

Caroline's horse is special because it holds treasures. Caroline included two very special gifts in the horse. She included "crowns" for me.

"Crowns" also known as Christmas tree ornament toppers. She cracks me up!

Tech Football 2009

I know I have said it before, but I love me some college football! All was right in my world this weekend when I was back in Lubbock for football.

We had a great time at the game. The weather was amazing. It was actually cool. I ended up needing a jacket. Who would of thought that jackets would be needed the second game of the season. I am pretty sure I have gotten a sunburn at the second game of the season before.

Kara and Courtney joined us for tailgating. Jaime met both of them so now they are "real" friends and I don't have to refer to them as my blog friends.

Best part was we won! We looked better than the week before so that is good. Hopefully we are moving in the right direction. I have a bad feeling that our short winning streak will be coming to a halt on Saturday in Austin. Hopefully my feeling is wrong.

The Party Never Ends

Thanks you so much for all the birthday wishes. It means so much to have so many wonderful people in my life. We had a great time in Lubbock. It was a great birthday weekend. I have the best family and friends in the world! I am so blessed.

Yesterday for lunch my mom hosted a fabulous birthday party for me. She really loves me lots. Mom even let me invite my favorite people. Dad was out of town so Jaime did all the cooking. He loves me lots too.

Mom ordered two cakes so everyone would be happy. I had my favorite, Italian Cream, and the kids got their favorite, cookie cake.

My favorite children were there and they were as sweet as ever. Caroline and John gave lots of hugs and kisses and they were so excited we were celebrating a birthday. They love birthdays and don't really care who's it is. Of course they prefer celebrating their own.

Caroline gave me a crown for my birthday. Isn't she the sweetest. Not many princess will share their title, but she was willing to share hers with me. I love that girl.

Kara and Courtney also came to the party. Courtney invited Kara to come to Lubbock for the weekend for football. Ann and I turned it into a blog party. It is hard to believe I haven't known these girls long. It seems like we have been friends forever. Thanks girls for coming to the party. It was so fun hanging out for a few hours.
